Prelude to Conflict
Brantford on the eve of war was a very different place. It was a city that was very proud of its ties to the British Crown and was confident in its industrial capacity. There was a strong belief in Progress and in prescribed roles for men and women.
With their bustling agriculture sector, Six Nations and Brant County were also proud of their ties to Great Britain. For many at Six Nations, this connection was maintained through the knowledge of their cultural traditions and their nation to nation alliance with the British Crown.
